PREGNANCY &
POST-NATAL YOGA

Your pregnancy classes are amazing! They helped me to feel calm and comfortable throughout my pregnancy, and well-prepared for the birth. I highly recommend them to everyone!

About Pregnancy
Yoga Classes

Pregnancy yoga is suitable for everyone, seasoned yogis and absolute newbies alike.  You needn’t have practiced yoga before to enjoy the benefits of these classes.

You will learn specific yoga breathing techniques beneficial throughout pregnancy and in labour, postures and positions to help build strength, and stamina for when you will need it most, and ways to unwind and release.

Each class begins with time for discussion and sharing any worries, concerns, and joys. It’s a great opportunity to hear other experiences and exchange information, and allows the group to bond. You can say as much or as little as you like, and anything shared during this part of the class is kept in strict confidence, never leaving the room. I draw on my extensive experience as a pregnancy yoga teacher, birth doula and Spinning Babies Certified Parent Educator to answer any questions or signpost to the best sources of help or further information.

USEFUL INFORMATION

You can begin pregnancy yoga at any stage in your pregnancy.  You may choose to wait until around 12-15 weeks (particularly if you’re new to yoga) when pregnancy is considered to be established and the worst of tiredness/sickness has passed. There is no evidence to suggest that yoga or exercise causes women to miscarry.*

In pregnancy, the way you feel will change from day to day, week to week.  Please listen to your body and let me know if there are any changes which can help me to suggest ways of modifying your yoga practice to help

At present, I teach all my pregnancy yoga classes at OruSpace in East Dulwich (see map below for precise location).  Classes are bookable through their website here.

Mats and yoga props (including blankets and bolsters) are provided by the studio however please feel free to bring your own if you prefer.  An extra mat can come in handy as the studio mats are quite thin.

About Post-natal
Yoga Classes

Designed to bring you ‘back together’ after the birth using yoga breathing, toning, strengthening, stretching and relaxation techniques. You needn’t have done yoga before, or during pregnancy, to benefit from these classes.

Classes are suitable for everyone postpartum, you can start anytime after a satisfactory six or eight weeks check (post vaginal birth) or ten weeks (post c-section).

Babies are incorporated into the class with songs, movement, and lots of cuddles. There is plenty of moving, stretching and strengthening for mums, too!

Please don’t worry if your baby is unsettled during the class – that’s the way it goes sometimes! Your baby may sleep peacefully all the way through the next class. Either way you will have still benefited from the experience of being out in a supportive environment with other mummies and babies.

USEFUL INFORMATION

Classes are held at OruSpace in East Dulwich, SE22.  You can book online via their online booking system using the button below.

You can begin postnatal yoga anytime following a satisfactory six or eight week postnatal check-up, 10 weeks post c-section.

There is buggy parking in the communal space outside the studio.  If your baby is asleep when you arrive, you can bring your buggy into the studio.  As space is limited, please bring your baby in a sling if you can.

There is room to feed or change your baby as needed in the class, however please feel free to take babies out if you prefer.  Please don’t change nappies in the chill-out area as people often eat in that space too! There is a baby-change loo with a changing ledge in the loo area, along with a nappy disposal bin.

This class is suitable for babies up to crawling. Once your baby is on the move you may want to consider moving to a regular yoga class just for you!

The class is designed to help you feel nurtured, relaxed and refreshed.  Always practice at your own pace, and be sure to rest at anytime during the class should you need to.

Please make me aware of any health issues or concerns you might have at the start of the class so I can help you to modify your practice accordingly.
